Days 61 & 62: Into Yosemite We Go

We left Mammoth and made a little side trip to check out the Devil's Postpile, a fascinating geologic formation that towers above you.  From there we trucked along, making our way toward Yosemite and Tuolumne Meadows.

Our first night out from Mammoth we stayed in our number-one-most-favorite campsite along the trail.  On a ridge and under the giant profiles of Mounts Ritter and Banner, we watched the ridge line get doused in alpenglow.  We built a small campfire and sat and took it all in.

As we walked into Yosemite National Park, a park that we've been recreating in for years, it occurred to me that we WALKED to Yosemite.  Just having that point of reference kind of blew my mind.

The park, as always, is stunning.  There were happy tourists everywhere and people reveling in the setting.  Including us.
